You would think, after multiple extended absences during my very short blogging career that I would hesitate to shell out money for my own domain name and then spend hours obsessing pouring over its every detail. But you know what they say about making assumptions? It makes an ass out of you and I (that was me channeling my father. I’ll stop now).
Since I’m moving out of my parents’ house (this weekend…another good reason this was a terrible time to take on this project), it seemed appropriate that I change my blog, since it was titled in reference to my independence-challenged living arrangements. I chose the new title from lyrics to a song that has been a “theme song” of mine at many points in my life: “Stand” by Rascal Flatts (you can chastise me for knowing all the words to all of their songs another time). The verse the title comes from:
Life’s like a novel with the end ripped out,
the edge of a canyon with only way down.
Take what you’re given before it’s gone.
Start holding on, keep holding on.
And then the chorus, which has helped me through many of my life’s lower moments:
Cause when push comes to shove you’ll taste what you’re made of,
You might bend til you break cause it’s all you can take,
On your knees, you’ll look up, decide you’ve had enough,
You get mad, you get strong,
Wipe your hands, shake it off,
Then you stand.
And so, my friends new and old, I invite you to take my hand and let’s jump.
